Mileage rate jumps in San Jose
18 Aug 2009
Media Workers Guild
The mileage rate for those who drive personal vehicles on company business has increased 13 cents per mile as a result of the escalator clause in the Guild’s contract with the Mercury News.
This escalator clause is based on Bay Area transportation indices for June, 2009. The contract calls for the mileage rates to be readjusted January 1 and July 1 each year.
The basic per mile rate is now 47.5 cents, effective July 1, 2009. The weekly minimum guarantee remains $45.
Guild-covered employees entitled to the weekly guarantee are reimbursed at whichever figure is higher.
The new rate will be put in place effective on paychecks received August 21.
Retroactive mileage pay back to July 1, 2009 will be made on September 4, 2009.
